An issue that offers some important details for a significant future arc. The artwork, as often in the New 52 Justice League title, is stunning. Beyond that, the core of this issue is talk of what the role of a superhero is. Do they only stop supervillains? Do they stop the world's wars? Do they solve nation's political problems?
A lot gets tied up into this issue, from the forgotten new members of a Justice league to busy to remember adding on Firestorm and Atom, to the arrival of a new JL villain (Despero), to Batman getting Kryptonite stolen from his Cave (and also a glimpse at boxes filled with the metaphorical kryptonite for every other JLer). Johns does a naturally good job writing, and Reis' art is beautiful as ever, but particularly appealing is a discussion between Superman and Wonder Woman about the nature of a being a super-human, namely that their job isn't to force change, but to enact justice and give humanity a clear path. Diana says nothing can stop them, and Bruce points out "that's what villains say." It's a great dialogue for a pivotal issue.
